Weekly Recap

Sigh. Time for another week. I don't really have anything too eventful to report. I didn't go to Mardi Gras, but Seth did. It was just too darn cold. So my mom came over Saturday for a little bit and the kids and I hung out in the evening and had pizza night. It was a pretty laid back weekend. I am watching the Oscars now and trying to be productive with laundry and other things.

This week looks to be busy at work. Abby has cheerleading on Thursday and a birthday party on Saturday. I have a wedding shower on Sunday for my friend, Erin, who is getting married in April.

I had a horrible week working out this week but got back in the gym today and had a good run. Monday is a new day. Have a great week!

Father-Daughter Sweetheart Dance

Tonight, Seth took Abby to the Girl Scouts Father-Daughter Sweetheart Dance. Abby was very excited. We curled her hair, painted her nails and argued over what other makeup she could wear. I told her only lip gloss and she wasn't happy with me. :)

Posing again. This was all her doing, by the way.

I need to go to FA - Facebook Anonymous

I am seriously addicted to Facebook. It is so fun to find old friends. Over the weekend I found a ton of people I used to work with at the News-Leader when I was a reporter. So fun! I wish they had Facebook when I was in college. The downside is that I spend time on Facebook when I am supposed to be doing other things. It can be a huge time suck.

Anyhoo - hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Seth and I spent it with the kids. We woke up and gave the kids their Valentine's presents - Abby got Fawn and Iridessa, two of the Disney fairies from Tinkerbell. She now has five (she already has Tinkerbell, Silvermist and Rosetta). I think she's hoping for a couple more at Easter. I told her I didn't know if the Easter Bunny knew about the Disney fairies. Adam got a stuffed puppy he has named Bandit, two Cars books, and a gun that blows bubbles (in general, I am against Adam having guns as toys but think water guns and bubble-blowing guns are ok. I hate guns and do not want him to have anything that resembles a real gun. It's dangerous and you never know what could happen if someone thinks it's a real gun.) Seth and I did not exchange gifts. Instead, we took the kids to Red Robin for lunch. My mom went, too. The kids really only love Red Robin for the balloons, but it is nice to allow the kids to be loud and not have to feel bad since it's so kid-friendly.

For dinner, I picked up sushi take out and we ate dinner at home. The kids had leftovers (Adam had leftover Red Robin and Abby had perogis, which she loves) but couldn't have been happier. After the kids went to bed, Seth and I enjoyed a quiet evening of wine/beer and Tivo. It was nice and relaxing. Today, Abby had Sunday School. Seth is heading out grocery shopping now and I am going to clean the house a bit and do laundry. I am off work tomorrow for President's Day, which is so nice. Poor Seth is not.

This week again looks to be not too bad in terms of busyness. Abby has cheerleading Thursday, but that's it. Next weekend is Mardi Gras in St. Louis. I haven't decided whether I'm going. It really depends on weather. A high of 38 does not look appealing.

I also signed Abby up for swimming lessons, which start in March, and softball for the summer. Cheerleading and Girl Scouts wil be over by summer so softball will keep her busy. Turns out, she's too old for t-ball, although they still use the tee to help kids who haven't quite mastered coach-pitch yet.

And finally, my work out update. I worked out three days this week. Not the best, but better than the previous week. My food choices this week were also not the best. I was tempted by the chocolate and the cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory that Seth picked up were not exactly healthy. But, damn, so delicious and worth every calorie. I'll try to do better this week. It is hard, that's for sure. Some friends want me to run in the St. Patrick's Day 5 mile run in downtown St. Louis. I honestly don't even know if I can do that. I need to try to work toward it though. The only downside is that I go to Vegas for work that week and my flight gets it at 11 p.m. the night before. Makes getting up early and heading downtown for a run seem unlikely no matter how badly I actually want to do it. Enough excuses though - I should just suck it up and do it!

Bunches of pictures

Hi. I'm back. Last week was really busy, but this week shouldn't be so bad. Here's a bunch of pictures from the last couple weeks...

Seth, my mom and I took the kids to The Magic House on Sunday. The Magic House is a well-known children's museum that recently expanded and doubled in size. I have been a member of the non-profit's Marketing Committee/PR Advisory Board for a year and they asked me to chair the Marketing Committee this year. Basically, since they are a non-profit and can't afford an agency, they look for PR, marketing and advertising professionals to donate their time and provide guidance for their marketing efforts. It's fun to think about how to market to kids considering I work in financial services. Today was our first meeting, actually, and there were people from a PR agency, an ad agency plus a couple other well-known companies in St. Louis. Kind of fun and different and good professionally.

The picture above is Adam and Abby crawling up this tower made of leaves. It was their favorite part.

Super Bowl - Adam and Kilian. Seth and I had people over for Super Bowl. It was actually quite a crowd. There were like 14 kids running around and about the same number of adults. Good thing everyone helped us clean up before they left because the basement was trashed. Anyway, this is the only picture I took, but it was a fun time. We may make this a tradition, but only in years in which the Pats are not playing in the Super Bowl. Seth can't handle it if they are. Too much stress.

Abby has had three cheerleading classes now and still really seems to like it. It's kind of hard to tell here, but she's waiting for the teacher to tell her where to stand. They have to stand in formation when they do their cheers and this was when they were all getting set up.

Cheerleading.

It snowed about seven or eight inches here a couple weeks ago. Seth stayed home from work with the kids and took some pictures of them playing in the snow. This is Adam.

This is a bit blurry so darn cute - Adam getting ready to go out in the snow.

On the working out front, I got injured. My left ankle became hugely swollen from the strain of running after being sore for about two weeks. It was freakishly large. I got an x-ray last week and they think it's just a swollen joint and told me to just take Aleve (anti-inflammatory). It's not as big now, but bigger than it should be. So I took a week off from running, which sucked because then you make all these excuses for yourself about why it's ok to eat whatever you want - or at least I did. So I was a little derailed, but Saturday it was 70 degrees outside so I ran outside about two miles with no pain. It was a little sore Sunday and today so I today I just did the elliptical at the gym tonight. I'm still going to run, but I'll have to take it easy for a while. Needless to say, this has derailed my weight loss. I had lost 10.3 pounds and I have probably gained a couple, but I'll keep going and get back on the right track. This is why I have to be accountable to anyone who bothers reading this!

I feel bad for Kurt Warner

It's been busy and I guess I haven't posted in a while... sorry. :)

This past weekend, Abby had another birthday party on Saturday. It was at a friend of ours' house whose little girl, Sami, turned six. They had a Hannah Montana party and did American Idol karaoke and make up and dress up and just had a blast. Sunday, Abby had Sunday School and then she got to play at our neighbor Hannah's house for a while. Seth and I had spent part of Saturday and Sunday cleaning because we had people over for Super Bowl. It turned out to be a nice turnout with a house full of kids. They had so much fun, though. We hardly saw Adam the whole evening. Too bad the Cardinals lost. I was really rooting for Kurt Warner and the Cardinals since they used to be in St. Louis.

I've hit some trouble with my workouts and diet. I've lost 10 pounds now, which is good, but I've done something to my ankle. It is really swollen and hurts and I'm hoping I don't have a stress fracture. It also means I can't run, which stinks because I really enjoy that. I can still do the elliptical and weights so it's not an excuse but it sucks I can't run.

This week is a busy one. Tuesday night is Girl Scouts, Wednesday I am getting a hair cut, Thursday Abby has a dentist appointment and cheerleading. Friday, I have a get together with some friends and Saturday, we have another birthday party for Dawn's stepson, Graham. Sunday is Sunday School for Abby. Busy!
